What we found.
Throughout our journey we took time to reflect as a group on what we saw and what we thought, and we repeated this process 6 months after we returned.
Traveling with a group with a diverse range of backgrounds, professional training personal experiences allowed our reflection sessions to capture a broad range of opinions and ideas.
We saw time and time again common themes emerge which included:
- The need to stand up for ideals and to champion ideas
- The importance of the individual in catalyzing change
- The importance of collaboration
- The vital role of research
At the end of our journey we were left with a sense that no single answer was right, and that solutions had to fit with, and be accepted by the communities they served.
Our collective experiences have been further synthesized into two reports which aim to paint a high level “vision” for what a Water Sensitive City may look like and provide a montage of ideas and strategies which were inspired by people and places we visited and could be adopted by anyone to start creating their own Water Sensitive City in their own sphere of influence.
